Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer not the easiest name in the world to remember so everybody uses it's more common name EPDM.

Within the past few years more and more householders have realised that EPDM synthetic rubber is the modern answer. It comes in one piece the size of the roof which negates the problems associated with parting joints. EPDM rubber will flex and resists all changes in temperature without cracking or peeling and is totally resistant to atmospheric pollution.

EPDM is environmentally friendly and stands up well against other flat roofing materials such as PVC or Bituminous products.

EPDM synthetic rubber is not as new as you might imagine the first Synthetic Rubber Membranes, developed in America and were laid in the 1960's and are still protecting flat roofs some 40 years later.

EPDM Synthetic Rubber Membrane is a remarkable material that can stretch, will not tear, split or crack and is unaffected by UV light and ozone. It is designed to outlast all conventional roofing materials.

Over the years EPDM has been used under a wide range of climatic conditions, from the glaring sun of Arizona and the Middle East to the 'Arctic" conditions of ALASKA and northern Europe.

EPDM has been used in new construction since 1964 on such projects as:
Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds    10,000 m
Magnetti Morelli, Birmingham     30,000 m
Leeds Playhouse    5,000 m
Center Parcs, Nottingham   120,000 m
Honda Motors, Swindon  105,000 m
Rover Cowley, Oxford 22,000 m
Bristol Myers Squibb  5,000 m
DSS Building, Leeds 10,000 m

Pelicaan Tennis Centre  30,000 m
Ramada Hotel, Heathrow    8,000 m
Shannon Turbines, Shannon (Ireland) 8,000 m

Unlike most bituminous materials EPDM does not become brittle with age.

EPDM can be fully adhered, Fully bonded epdm roof loose laid and ballasted Ballasted epdm roof or mechanically attached Mechanically attatched epdm roof depending on the existing roof and its use.

The Guarantee on an EPDM roof can be longer than the full life of a felt roof. It's current life expectancy is 50 years but this is an ever increasing amount as it is based on the first EPDM roofs which where installed in the 1960's the longer they last the higher this number will become.

We offer a comprehensive installation service as well as sales to those who feel competent enough to do the job themselves. Please feel free to visit our DIY Page.
